ACWA and our Shareholders promote health and safety on all work sites.
All workers are required to take Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) prior to starting work, and to maintain a valid certification.
Before beginning work at any of the work sites, site-specific orientation will be provided to educate workers of hazards, procedures, evacuation and emergency response processes. This is mandatory for all workers to accessing any site. When initial site orientation is completed, the contractor-specific orientation will then be delivered.
Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA) are one of the key tools used daily by contractors prior to starting work and when new tasks are assigned.
Every project site has trained medical staff and first aid personnel who are available when work is taking place.
All employers supply the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the workers, including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, etc. Employees are responsible for providing Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved footwear, indicated by the green triangle symbol.
Alcohol and Drug Testing (A&D) is mandatory on all worksites. Workers are required to provide a clean sample prior to orientation and post incident or reasonable cause.
The Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace link below details the policy.
