There are three main types of employment at Kearl – working for the companies building the expansion projects, and careers with Imperial Oil or contract companies in the operation of Kearl. During the construction of the expansion project, most job opportunities will be through Imperial Oil’s construction contractors. The main contractors currently on-site are K2, AMEC, Fluor, Kiewit, PCL and Horton CBI. K2 is a Kiewit/Klemke joint venture with a focus on earthworks. Fluor’s focus is on the provision of infrastructure and site-wide services, and AMEC is focused on managing the project’s engineering and procurement. Kiewit is constructing Kearl’s froth treatment facilities and PCL is working on Kearl’s utilities’ construction. Additionally, Horton CBI is focused on the extraction and tank farm area.
